After just one game of the Ruben Amorim era it’s already apparent that Manchester United are going to need yet more new signings and a new striker is thought to be on the agenda.
United drew with Ipswich as Amorim saw his team’s fast start fall by the wayside as they slipped into old habits and struggled to break down the Tractor Boys.
For United, the goal for Marcus Rashford from a central position was a big plus point but there are still question marks over two of their other forwards, Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund.
With that in mind, it appears United are scouring the market for another centre forward option and their search could take them to Germany.
Manchester United looking at signing Victor Boniface
According to German Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg, United are very much keen on Victor Boniface.
Boniface has been a key player in the Bayer Leverkusen revolution under Xabi Alonso and scored 21 goals as they won the Bundesliga last season.
However, with eight goals already this season, the interest in Boniface is hotting up and United are thought to be considering the Nigerian among a range of options.
Boniface tipped to be a £100m striker
There’s always risks with signing strikers, unless you are looking at a sure fire hit like an Erling Haaland or Kylian Mbappe.
With Boniface, it’s all about the potential and the package he brings to the table in terms of being a top number nine.
At 23, he has time to develop and get even better and in terms of endorsements, Xabi Alonso himself called the forward a ‘complete‘ striker.
Furthermore, Boniface was also tipped by Football Transfers to go on and become the next £100m striker in world football.
Quite whether United will pay that, remains to be seen. But it’s clear a new forward is wanted, and at the moment, needed.
