The future of Mohamed Salah at Liverpool is wrapped up in uncertainty.
The Egypt international will become a free agent at the end of the season.
Salah recently said that Liverpool have not spoken to him about handing him a new deal.
TalkSPORT pundit Gabriel Agbonlahor has urged Liverpool to hand Salah a new contract and pay up to £500,000 a week if need be.
Liverpool fans would love to see Salah stay beyond the end of the season, but Fenway Sports Group (FSG) may have something else in mind.
According to GiveMeSport, Liverpool insiders believe that Ben Doak could replace Salah in the first team.
Ben Doak could replace Mo Salah at Liverpool
Doak can play as a winger or as an attacking midfielder. The 19-year-old is on loan at Middlesbrough at the moment.
Also starring for Scotland, Doak has scored one goal and given three assists in 10 Championship matches this season.
GiveMeSport has noted that while Liverpool rate Doak highly and have been impressed with his “dribbling, vision, and creativity”, they are “trying to work out whether his work in the penalty box is going to be good enough to truly reach first-team level”.
“His shooting in particular is under the microscope in terms of where and when he goes for goal and how that would convert into Premier League football,” adds the report.
Liverpool’s immediate plans regarding Ben Doak
While he is doing extremely well at the moment, as TBR reported over the weekend, Liverpool want to keep Doak on loan at Middlesbrough for now.
The £600,000 Scotland international is expected to finish the season at Middlesbrough, and then Liverpool manager Arne Slot will take a close look at him.
Clubs in the Premier League are interested in Doak, but Liverpool are not planning to rush his development.
