Ruben Amorim is on his way to take over at Manchester United this week and the Red Devils could give their man in charge a brand new forward.
United are looking forward to Amorim’s appointment as they seek a new venture after Erik ten Hag was dismissed a few weeks back.
Amorim will expect to be backed in the market by INEOS as he looks to implement his own plans on the club as a whole.
Of course, United have spent money in recent windows and they do have good attackers like Rasmus Hojlund, Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho already in place.
But according to reports from L’Equipe in France, United are now looking at signing another forward.
Manchester United keen on Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku
According to the report from the French outlet, Man United are keeping an eye on Chelsea star Christopher Nkunku as they look for new signings.
Nkunku has not found himself in favour under Enzo Maresca and TBR Football revealed last month that Chelsea have told Nkunku and a few others they’re now playing for their futures.
Furthermore, Nkunku is thought to be growing concerned at his lack of chances under Maresca as the January window approaches.
The French forward was signed for £52m by Chelsea but suffered a near season ending injury when he first arrived.
That has put Nkunku back a few steps and with Maresca working with a more condensed squad, he’s found himself on the periphery.
Jude Bellingham a big fan of Christopher Nkunku
Getting endorsements from fellow pros is always a good sign and Nkunku has had his from none other than Jude Bellingham.
Speaking about his ideal five-a-side team previously, Bellingham named Nkunku among the five he’d pick as ‘elite’ players in his squad.
“I’m not playing with a goalie. (Kevin) De Bruyne, easily, he’s so good, man. It’s hard on the spot! Played against him in the Champions League,” Bellingham said.
“(Joshua) Kimmich. Really good player. It’s tough. Thomas Muller, let’s say. Haaland obviously I played against him, forgot I’d played against him, it’s sad!
“If it’s people I’ve played against, I’ll say someone like Nkunku to be honest. Bags-man. Probably would be good at five-a-side. I’ll go with those five elite players.”
United, then, could be getting a top forward on their hands who just needs to get playing regularly and get back among the goals.
Indeed, it’s easy to forget Nkunku scored more than 50 goals in two seasons before getting his move from RB Leipzig.
