Report: 'Promising' £21m player really impressed Arsenal scouts last season and they now want to sign him

According to a recent report, Arsenal were left really impressed by a £21m-rated player towards the end of last season.

Arsenal have made a pretty slow start to the window but now that Euro 2024 has finished, they’re expected to ramp up their business.

A deal for Italy defender Riccardo Calafiori is being worked on whilst a move for Spain’s Nico Williams is being mooted, though, they face stiff competition from La Liga giants Barcelona.

They’re also keen on signing a goalkeeper and were really impressed by one’s performances towards the back end of the season.

Arsenal impressed by Joan Garcia

According to Spanish outlet Sport, Arsenal were really impressed with Joan Garcia’s performances towards the end of the season.

The Espanyol shot-stopper’s displays have put The Gunners on red alert, though, they aren’t alone in their interest as Tottenham Hotspur and Real Madrid also continue to monitor his situation.

The 2001-born, who has been labelled ‘promising’ per Arsenal Insider, has a £21m release clause in his contract and the La Liga club will only allow him to leave if it’s activated.

If Andriy Lunin departs Real Madrid this summer, the Champions League winners will consider making an approach for the Spain youth international.

Arsenal don’t need Joan Garcia

Unless Garcia is brought in to be a long-term replacement for David Raya, Arsenal don’t need to sign the Spaniard this window.

With Tommy Setford set to sign from Ajax, The Gunners are converted in the goalkeeping areas, so they’re likely to cool their interest in Garcia.

Funds should instead be allocated towards the potential signings of Nico Williams and Riccardo Calafiori this summer.

In other news, Arsenal have agreed to pay £86m for ‘lethal’ player.
