‘Interesting’: Journalist shares what people within Spurs now think about Ange Postecoglou’s future

Ange Postecoglou has been something of a revelation at Tottenham.

The Australian has transformed the way Spurs play in the space of 12 months, and if it weren’t for bad luck in terms of injuries last season, he may have taken Tottenham back into the Champions League at the first time of asking.

Postecoglou’s stock has risen exponentially since arriving as the Tottenham manager, and now, he’s being linked with the England job.

Postecoglou himself played down the idea of taking the England job, but speaking on the Sky Sports Back Pages Podcast, Dave Kidd has shared an interesting insight into Postecoglou’s future.

How people at Tottenham view Ange Postecoglou’s future

According to Kidd, there are some within Spurs who have believed for a little while that Postecoglou has had his eye on his next job.

“He is a great coach and he has a good pedigree. There are certainly a lot of people around Spurs who have always thought he’s had his eye on his next job. Given that Spurs is a big job in itself that is interesting.”

Ange Postecoglou can’t be blamed

Ange Postecoglou has worked his way up the managerial ladder brilliantly over the past few years, and you can’t blame him for continuing to want to climb.

This is a coach who was managing in Japan in his early 50s, and now he finds himself in the Premier League, and that truly elite role is within touching distance.

With all due respect to Tottenham, there are bigger and more lucrative jobs out there, and if Postecoglou can land himself one of those roles, it would be hard to blame him for making a move.

At the age of 58, the Australian is no spring chicken in the managerial game. Time isn’t on Postecoglou’s side and if an unmissable opportunity crops up, he simply has to take it.
