Report shares Dele Alli injury latest as Everton reach new contract agreement

Dele Alli is not yet ready to return to full first-team training with Everton as he continues his rehabilitation from injury, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The outlet reported on its website on Sunday (14 July) that the attacking midfielder is set to travel with Sean Dyche’s squad to Ireland as pre-season preparations continue amid new contract developments.

Everton have reached an agreement with Spurs which has allowed Dyche the chance to help the former England international work towards a return to football after his original deal on Merseyside expired at the end of the season.

Under the new arrangement, the Toffees will not be required to pay a further fee to their Premier League rivals if they do decide to offer Dele new terms to extend his stay at Goodison Park.

Will Dele Alli sign a new contract at Everton amid Tottenham developments?

The fact that Dele has not played a game in well over a year has perhaps been lost in all the discussion around his new contract, but it should be remembered as the Toffees make a decision over his future at Goodison.

At his best, the former Spurs star can win matches single-handedly and produce moments of magic as special as anyone else in the division. However, he hasn’t been at that level for some time now and a new contract will be a risk.

It will also be difficult for the 28-year-old to show Dyche and his team that he still has what it takes to play in the Premier League when he isn’t able to take part in full first-team training or pre-season matches currently.

Hopefully, Dele will be back to full fitness sooner rather than later so Everton can make an educated decision about his future.

Dyche has always been an admirer of the former Spurs star and will almost certainly hand him every chance to get back to his best.
