'A joy to watch': Jamie Redknapp stunned by how good £30m Arsenal man actually is after seeing him v West Ham

Arsenal picked up another big win against West Ham and Jamie Redknapp has admitted to being seriously impressed by one of their players.

The Gunners smashed in five goals to give themselves a comfortable win and go second in the Premier League table ahead of Liverpool v Man City.

Bukayo Saka has played down the clash but there will be hope among the Arsenal camp that Liverpool drop points.

Of course, for Arsenal, they just have to keep winning. And key to them keeping winning are the performances of Martin Odegaard and the aforementioned Saka.

But while Gary Neville lauded Saka for his display, fellow Sky pundit Jamie Redknapp felt that the contribution of Odegaard is what really makes Arsenal tick.

Martin Odegaard praised by Jamie Redknapp as Arsenal beat West Ham

Speaking on Sky Sports about the impact of Odegaard, Redknapp was full of praise for the Norwegian and insisted he’s shown everyone recently just how good he is.

“Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard linked up beautifully at times and they looked like the side we’ve seen over the last couple of years,” Redknapp said.

“It just shows everybody what Odegaard does for this team, he knits it together. He is the glue in the team. He is an absolute joy to watch and you see how much better they are with him.

“He frees Saka up and gives him that time in one on one situations that you can’t really have unless Odegaard is playing.”

Odegaard’s impact obvious for Arsenal

It’s no coincidence that since Martin Odegaard came back into the team, Arsenal have sprung into life and started ticking again.

Odegaard’s return has coincided with 14 goals for the Gunners in just four games. That sort of contribution just cannot be overlooked.

Now, it’s vital that Odegaard remains fit and firing for Arsenal.

If he doesn’t, then much like Man City with Rodri, Arsenal’s season could falter and in the end, leave them short for a third successive year.
