'Price is increasing' - Wenham reacts as Tottenham send scouts to watch £80m+ Euro sensation

John Wenham believes Tottenham target Jamie Bynoe-Gittens’ price will only continue to increase.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose doesn’t want the Borussia Dortmund star to be signed if it means the “fearless” Mikey Moore’s progress is hindered.

As reported by BILD (21 October), Chelsea and Spurs are regularly sending scouts to watch Gittens in action. However, he will cost big money, with Dortmund set to demand £83million-plus for the forward.

And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – struggles to see the Englishman joining Spurs.

“He seems to be getting quite a lot of minutes with Dortmund,” Wenham said.

“Therefore, it is likely his price is increasing all the time. He is another player I wouldn’t want to be signed if it is going to impact Moore’s progress at the club in any way, shape, or form.

“I’d rather we develop our own homegrown talents and give them opportunities. We also have Wilson Odobert as well. As a result, I don’t see Spurs signing Gittens.”

Ex-Spurs scout Bryan King has backed Tottenham to continue monitoring Gittens. However, with the number of clubs likely interested in the youngster, winning the race for his signature will be tough.

In addition, Spurs already have young talent who can play a similar role to Gittens, such as Odobert and Moore, as Wenham mentioned.

Therefore, splashing a huge amount of money on the player seems rather unlikely, and Ange Postecoglou would perhaps be wise to put that money toward other areas which are more in need of strengthening.
