Report: There is absolutely 'no chance' that £22m Tottenham player will leave Spurs this summer

One Tottenham Hotspur player will definitely not be leaving the club this summer.

Ange Postecoglou has a lot of work to do in this transfer window. The Spurs boss has already re-signed Timo Werner on another loan deal, which is a decent move.

There will be more movement at Tottenham in the next two months – both incomings and outgoings. One player, however, is going nowhere in 2024.

The latest on Heung-min Son’s future at Tottenham

Tottenham have left themselves in a vulnerable position with respect to Heung-min Son’s contract.

The South Korean is the captain of the club and is arguably their best and most important player. He has been unbelievable since he joined them for £22 million in 2015 (Guardian).

However, his current contract has caused some uncertainty on his future.

Son will enter the final 12 months of his deal at Tottenham in July. There is no agreement over an extension just yet, and that has given rise to speculation about where he will be next season.

TeamTalk made a shocking claim recently that Fenerbache want to sign Son this summer after they appointed Jose Mourinho as their manager.

Journalist Steve Kay also claimed that he wouldn’t be surprised if Son left.

Now, GiveMeSport have shared an update that will ease Tottenham fans’ fears.

The report claims that there is ‘no chance’ that Son will leave Spurs in this summer’s transfer window, even though he will enter the final year of his contract.

It has further been added that Son ‘plans to be at the North London club next season and beyond’, and could even end up retiring at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

That would cement his legacy as a Spurs legend.

One thing Postecoglou needs to do to help Son in 2024/25

After Harry Kane left Tottenham in 2023, Son became Spurs’ main man in attack.

The South Korean had to play many games as the lone striker – 23 to be exact. He did well there, scoring 14 goals and providing five assists, but we feel his best position is on the left flank.

So, Postecoglou needs to sign an out-and-out striker this summer, one who will allow Son to return to the left flank where he can be devastating.

That would take Tottenham to a whole new level, especially if the new forward is just as prolific as the Korean, if not more.

Spurs have been linked with a number of strikers recently, including Ivan Toney. It will be interesting to see who they will go after in the coming weeks.
