Tottenham Hotspur have started putting plans in place for the January transfer window as they look to bolster Ange Postecoglou’s squad.
Tottenham have made their worst start to a Premier League campaign in 16 years having taken just 10 points from their first seven matches.
But despite results not going their way, performances have still been impressive and the underlying data suggests Spurs are on the right path under Postecoglou.
The North London club are now preparing to back their manager in the winter window and have already identified one potential target.
Tottenham target makes transfer decision
Ademola Lookman is open to leaving Atalanta in January in search of a new challenge, according to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg.
TBR Football reported back in September that Tottenham had scouts watch Lookman in action against Arsenal in the Champions League.
The 26-year-old is a player who they have been watching for several years even during his time at Charlton and Everton. However, Newcastle, Arsenal and Liverpool have also had a look at him.
The Nigerian international announced himself to world football after scoring an incredible hat-trick in the Europa League Final against Bayer Leverkusen. Lookman’s performances this year have earned him a Ballon d’Or nomination.
Spurs could be on the lookout for a new winger with Heung-min Son now in the latter stages of his career and his contract due to expire next summer. It’s worth noting though that the North London club do have the option to extend his deal by a further year.
Now with the Atalanta winger having made himself available for transfer in the winter window, the Lilywhites could take advantage of his price tag which is around £22 million.
Lookman has just 18 months left on his current deal and the Italian club could see the January window as the right time to cash in.
How do Lookman’s stats look this season?
Lookman has made a great start to the season with two goals and two assists in four Serie A appearances.
The winger missed the start of the season with a knock and Atalanta are yet to lose a game this term when the 26-year-old has started.
His data in the Italian top flight look impressive with his passing and chance creation numbers particularly standing out.
Stat Total Apperances 4 Goals 2 Assists 2 Shots per game 3.5 Shots on target per game 1.3 Big chances created 4 Key passes 3.0
