Report: West Ham take lead in race for 'complete' centre-back, six-year contract on table

West Ham United have been fairly busy in the transfer window over the past few weeks and the likelihood is there’s more to come.

The Hammers have brought Luis Guilherme, Wes Foderingham and Max Kilman to the London Stadium this summer.

West Ham have also sold four players, with Flynn Downes, Said Benrahma, Thilo Kehrer, Nathan Trott all leaving for fees.

The Hammers are said to be looking for further defensive reinforcements, and one name in particular has been doing the rounds of late.

West Ham said to be favourites for Jean-Clair Todibo

The player in question is Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo, whose club has reportedly agreed a deal with West Ham for the player.

And while there have been reports suggesting Todibo is only really waiting for Juventus to strike a deal, CaughtOffside have now provided a more positive update.

The report claims that Juve are not willing to match Nice’s €32million (£27million) valuation, leaving West Ham in pole position for his signature.

In addition, the Hammers are said to have offered Todibo a six-year contract, set to run until the end of the 2029/30 season.

And in contrast to some reports that have been doing the rounds, CaughtOffside say the player is yet to decide on his next move.

West Ham boost as Todibo race remains open

The Jean-Clair Todibo transfer saga has been going on for a while and it has provided its fair share of ups and downs.

Based on this latest report, it looks like West Ham remain firmly in the race for his services, and hopefully there will be more concrete reports in the coming days or weeks.

Todibo, who stands at 6ft 3in, made 33 appearances for Nice as they finished fifth in Ligue 1 last season.

In 2023, Jacek Kulig of Football Talent Scout deemed Todibo “the complete package” and “one of the most underrated CBs in Europe at the moment”.

West Ham have already convinced Nice by agreeing a deal, now they need to convince the player to pick the London Stadium over the Allianz Stadium.
