Report: Wolves will now sell Bruno Lage signing at a loss; £20m January deal now on the cards

It’s not exactly going swimmingly at Wolves this season and it looks like one unhappy player could be sold at a loss in the January transfer window.

Gary O’Neil’s side are struggling massively at the foot of the table this season and are firmly embroiled in a relegation fight once again.

Wolves have won just one game all season and go to Fulham this weekend knowing that some sort of result is crucial.

O’Neil, of course, will be wanting to get to January in half decent shape and look to assess his squad, before moving a few on and bringing others in.

And one man who looks set to be sold is winger, Goncalo Guedes.

Wolves to accept £20m bid for Goncalo Guedes

According to a report from CaughtOffside, Wolves and Guedes are ready to part ways after an unhappy relationship in general since he signed.

Wolves paid around £27m for Guedes when Bruno Lage was in charge but he has struggled from day one to make an impact.

Indeed, it’s been claimed that those inside Wolves believe Guedes has been unhappy from day one, while O’Neil himself has admitted a January move for Guedes is on the cards.

The report from CaughtOffside now claims that Wolves are indeed ready to let Guedes go and they’re looking to get £20m for the winger.

That means that, once again, the club are losing money on a player who a lot was expected of.

Wolves need big changes in January

Gary O’Neil will be hoping he is still in charge come January but the fact is that if results remain as bad as they have been, he will be gone.

Wolves just have to stay in the Premier League or they risk financial disaster, especially if they cannot bounce back immediately.

The signing of Guedes is just one of a number of failed big name and big money captures over the last few years that frankly, haven’t paid off.

For Guedes, it’s all about finding a club where he can play and feel at home and one senses that a switch back abroad will very much be on his agenda.
