Arne Slot is keen to bring a centre-back, central midfielder and wide attacker to Liverpool before the transfer deadline, sources have told Football Insider.
However, just days remain before the window slams shut on Friday (30 August) and the Reds are yet to make their first summer signing.
Goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili is set to join the club before then but will be loaned back to Valencia for the 2024-25 campaign.
Slot has assessed his Liverpool squad since arriving at the start of July and feels reinforcements are needed in defence, midfield and out wide.
But in a stumbling block to the Dutchman’s plans, sources say Reds transfer chiefs Richard Hughes and Michael Edwards have been reluctant to sanction any deals this summer as they feel prices are inflated.
Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi was a top target at Anfield but rejected a move to stay with the Basque outfit.

It is believed the Merseysiders won’t rush into anything if the right deal is not available before the deadline.
The lack of signings comes despite the departures of Joel Matip, Thiago Alcantara and Adrian at the end of the 2023-24 campaign.
Slot has won his first two games in charge at Liverpool, including Sunday’s (25 August) 2-0 victory against Brentford.
The Reds will play Champions League football from next month.
