Celtic fans are fearing Brendan Rodgers could walk away from the club after his latest comments about the board and transfers.
The Hoops boss was asked about Matt O’Riley’s impending exit and what it would mean for the transfer window, as he responded: “We can’t be happy just to make money and build the pot.
“We want to strengthen. Well, I hope so. It’s taken longer than I would have liked as the manager, that’s my honest answer.”
“How long have you been coming to Celtic?” he jokingly asked one reporter, “I just hope we can at least get some of it [the money from O’Riley’s exit].”
There was a clear frustration and concern about the manager’s answers – leading to suggestions of a rift between him and the board.
Following those comments, fans are tipping Rodgers to leave should transfer business not ramp up before the deadline on Friday 30 August.
Brendan Rodgers could quit Celtic as fans stunned by latest board twist
Rodgers previously quit Celtic to join Leicester City in 2019 while leading the league by eight points – with fans suggesting a lack of support from the board played a part.
Five years later, history may be repeating itself as a lack of backing in the transfer market has led to the manager’s growing frustration.
As the interview did the rounds on social media, fans are insisting he could walk away “by Christmas” with anger at the board a constant theme.
In other news, Matt O’Riley is undergoing a medical ahead of a record-breaking transfer.
