Sean Dyche admits any transfer business for Everton in January will be governed by PSR after he spoke to new owners the Friedkin Group.
TFG completed their takeover of the club on Thursday [16 December] and the Toffees earned a point against an in-form Chelsea at Goodison Park on Sunday [22 December] in the first game of the new era.
Despite the change in regime, Dyche seemingly poured cold water on any hopes of a winter splurge, saying the club still need to tread carefully with PSR parameters.
Speaking in his post-match press conference, Dyche said: “They’ve shared a thought with us and said ‘look we’re aware this is going to take time. You know, it’s not a short-term fix here.’
“We’ve still got PSR we’ve got to be governed by slightly and look at that going into January. January’s a tough window anyway, building on what we’ve got here.
“Obviously the new stadium speaks for itself. They said, their words they want to put Everton Football Club back where it should belong. But it’s going to take time and I’m well aware of that after having two-ish or nearly two years of constant work.
“There’s still a lot more to do, I’ve been saying that all along.”

Although the campaign has been disappointing for the Toffees so far, it would have felt harsh had the new ownership come in and got rid of Dyche straightaway given the side have certainly been affected by events off the pitch for a number of years.
The 53-year-old has shown that he is a capable manager and after his side gained a good point against Chelsea on Sunday, it will surely have shown the new owners that he is the man that can take Everton to safety this season.
Undoubtedly, there is work to be done by the club in the January transfer window to ensure they can recruit the necessary players to strengthen them for the second half of the season and the boss seems to acknowledge that it won’t be the easiest transfer window.
Nevertheless, it seems like both parties are on the same page regarding the project at hand in Merseyside which will surely serve the team well going forward.
