Everton have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Barcelona striker Vitor Roque, according to Sport.
The outlet reported in its print edition [15 August, pg5], that the one-cap Brazil international will not consider proposals from Saudi Arabia despite interest from Al-Hilal and wishes to remain in Europe.
Barcelona are keen to sanction the sale of Roque, one year after he moved to Spain from Athletico-PR to help fund further signings and registrations.
Will Everton sign Vitor Roque?
The 19-year-old has shown he has an old head on young shoulders by rejecting the riches of Saudi Arabia so early into his career.
Hansi Flick and Barcelona would prefer to do a deal with Al-Hilal, a move away from Europe eases the concern that he fulfils the potential promised when he arrived in Catalonia, and as always with Saudi Arabian sides, their offer would blow all interested parties out of the water.
Sean Dyche wants to bolster his forward line before the 30 August deadline, with uncertainty looming over the futures of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto ahead of the new season after a combined 10 Premier League goals last term.
A move for Roque would be an excellent coup for the Blues, not every day will a side like Everton get the chance to sign a promising young talent from Barcelona.
Not only is he one of Brazil’s most promising young talents, but, he also has incredible re-sale value should he replicate his 46 goal contributions in 97 appearances for Athletico-PR and Cruzeiro.
Roque fits the bill of a high-potential player off the back of a poor season, which seems to be the strategy at Goodison Park this summer, with only 16 outings for Barcelona last term firmly behind Robert Lewandowski in the pecking order.
Everton need to move fast and get this deal over the line and worry about the future of their current strikers later, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity for the club to sign a potential world-beater.
