Sean Dyche has admitted he needs to “get things right” on the pitch to keep his Everton job after the 2-1 win against Crystal Palace.

The Toffees managed to come away from Goodison Park with three points to their name after a relieving victory over the Eagles on 28 September.

The win has moved Everton up to fifteenth in the Premier League after Dwight McNeil scored twice in the second half.

Speaking to BBC Match of the Day (28 September), Dyche shared his verdict on where his Everton future lies.

“I’m a custodian here, I have to answer to a lot here. In the in-between spell of ownership and now it looks like there’s going to be a new owner,” he said.

“We don’t know for sure and I’m sure it’s very complicated to get these deals done. We will have to see what it brings and all we can do in the meantime is continue to work hard, which me, my staff and the players are doing.

“Correct the league table, which we’ve taken a step forward in doing today and make sure we look after what the club is about and we’ll need to wait and see what the new owner brings.

“In terms of my job, I’ve never lost sight about the fact that I’ve got to get it right on the pitch in order to win games.”

Before the 2-1 victory over Palace, the Toffees had endured a rather abysmal season. The club managed to bottle two-goal leads twice against both Bournemouth and Aston Villa which made many fans question if relegation was on the cards.

Pressure has been mounting upon Dyche for some time now and although at this moment in time, his job feels safe, Dan Friedkin’s impending takeover could change things dramatically [Alan Myers, 26 September].

The hot seat has already been linked with a plethora of managers ranging from the likes of David Moyes to Gareth Southgate [GiveMeSport, 23 September].

England boss Gareth Southgate watched Everton lose to West Ham.

This win against Oliver Glasner’s men, however, could have been one of the best things to have happened to the former Burnley manager.

If the club can manage to build on the momentum from this game, they could find themselves slowly clawing their way back up the table, perhaps even into the top 10, which in turn, would save Dyche’s job.
