Sean Dyche was seen furious at Orel Mangala in the Everton clash against Wolves at Goodison Park on Wednesday, according to Sean Lunt.
The Englishman was not pleased that the midfielder kept venturing forward rather than holding his position in the middle of the park.
Ironically, the Belgian midfielder found the back of the net, scoring the second goal as the Toffees picked up a 4-0 win on 4 December.
Sport Witness’ Lunt wrote on X: “Sean Dyche has just been furious with Mangala. Seemed to be telling him to stop pushing forwards and play as a two in midfield, presumably with Gueye.”
Orel Mangala scores an important goal for Everton v Wolves
Mangala cannot go against the manager’s instructions no matter how negative they might be.
At the end of the day, it’s Dyche’s job that’s on the line in the event of a bad result so he’s got to have his players buying into it.
It made sense to ask Mangala to stay deeper as the Wolves started the game stronger.
However, once Ashley Young scored, the Toffees appeared to be much more settled and looked more organised in midfield.
While Mangala was among the better players on the pitch, it’s understandable why Dyche was furious with him.
With regards to the 35-year-old Gueye, it’s imperative the Toffees find someone younger and more robust to play that position.
In other Everton news, Alan Myers has issued a claim on financial issues surrounding Sean Dyche’s sacking.
