'Shambolic' - Sky Sports pundit tears into Ipswich man after 'Terrible' moment v Everton

Ipswich Town forward Wes Burns has been torn into by Lee Hendrie for a “shambolic” incident involving Iliman Ndiaye in the clash with Everton at Portman Road.

Sean Dyche’s side got back to winning ways after the international break with a 2-0 win over Kieran McKenna’s Tractor Boys on Saturday (19 October) thanks to goals from Ndiaye and Michael Keane.

While Ndiaye’s finish was impressive, Sky Sports pundit Hendrie was quick to slam Burns for his “terrible” attempted clearance in the build-up that gifted the chance to the Toffees forward.

Speaking on Sky Sports Soccer Saturday (19 October, 15:34) he said: “It’s Everton, it’s Iliman Ndiaye who gets the goal.

“It’s a bit shambolic but fair play. He’s reacted and it’s Wes Burns who should do a lot better. It’s a ball that’s come in from the right-hand side, it’s whipped in deep and it’s just really, really poor defending.

“Harrison whips this ball in just half a yard deep. It’s not really dealt with by Dara O’Shea and then Wes Burns, I don’t know what he’s actually doing. He tries to have a touch and then tries to kick it away, completely misses the ball.

“It falls to Iliman Ndiaye and he just hits it in that far post past Muric. He won’t want to watch this again, it’s terrible.”

What happened to Ipswich star Wes Burns v Everton at Portman Road?

Everton fans won’t have any complaints, but even they will have been wondering what Burns was trying to do in that moment at Portman Road on Saturday.

The Wales international seemed to have plenty of time to clear his lines, however, he dallied on the ball and basically invited Ndiaye to come and steal the ball before slotting in for his second Premier League goal of the campaign.

Dyche will have been delighted to see his new forward back on the scoresheet once again after the international break. There were fears he could have picked up a new injury but he has banished all that speculation with his display on Saturday.

Hopefully, he will continue to find the net on a consistent basis over the coming months. Ndiaye has offered another dimension at the top end of the pitch that has massively eased the pressure on Dominic Calvert-Lewin in front of goal.
