Tottenham would only consider selling Dejan Kulusevski if an “astronomical” bid was submitted, Paul Robinson has said.
Aston Villa are keen on signing the 24-year-old winger, according to Football Transfers [20 July], hoping to fill the void left by Moussa Diaby’s move to Saudi Arabia.
The Sweden international only arrived at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last summer, and Robinson cannot see Tottenham sanctioning his exit ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Robinson said: “I can’t see Tottenham trading for Kulusevski at all. He’s played a lot of football since Ange Postecoglou came in and he’s shown his quality. He’s still very early on in his Spurs career but he’s had a big impact.
“They would do well to find a player of his quality to replace him. I’d be highly surprised if Spurs were to listen to any bids for him, especially to a rival like Aston Villa. Are they a bigger, better club than Tottenham? No.
“He won’t be for sale. It would have to be an astronomical bid for Daniel Levy to go to the manager and question whether they would accept it or not. The bid would have to include silly numbers for the club to even think about it.”
Tottenham to sell Dejan Kulusevski as Aston Villa circle?
Kulusevski impressed during his initial loan spell in North London between January 2022 and June 2023, earning a permanent move to the capital last summer.
He has notched a total of 15 goals and 19 assists during his two spells at Spurs, becoming a key part of Postecoglou’s squad for the Premier League, and now the Europa League.
As Robinson suggests, it would need to be a major bid if the Lilywhites were to sell Kulusevski, and even after Diaby’s move to Al-Ittihad, Villa are unlikely to make such an offer this summer.
