Tony Cascarino has been left infuriated by Chris Kavanagh after he gave Brentford midfielder Christian Norgaard a red card for his challenge on Everton ace Jordan Pickford in their 0-0 stalemate on Saturday.
The Dane was shown a red card by Kavanagh on 23 November for planting his leg into Pickford’s after reaching out for a pass from Ethan Pinnock that he couldn’t quite reach.
Speaking live on talkSPORT (24 November, 08:40am), Cascarino shared his thoughts on the incident.
“No I don’t think it is [a red card],” Cascarino said.
“Any manager would be angry if a player didn’t attempt to get his foot knowing he’s got to get a toe on it, or something on it and he can score a goal.
“And accidentally, because it is accidentally because Pickford comes rushing out of his goal and he’s okay to fling himself at something and he did that with Van Dijk didn’t he.
“You can’t be refereeing like that, I get infuriated with the way penalties are getting, red cards are getting so silly.
“The game is too soft.”
Everton should have capitalised on Brentford having 10 men
From the 41st minute of the clash, Everton found themselves with the advantage of an extra player on the pitch, but they failed to capitalise on the opportunity to take all three points once again.
This season has been quite topsy-turvy for the Toffees with the club going on unbeaten streaks but then getting brought back down to earth after a poor showing such as their game against the Bees.
For the last few seasons, the Merseyside outfit have found themselves as one of the main relegation battlers in the Premier League.
This season, fans were hoping for something different especially after the likes of Iliman Ndiaye were added to their squad.
Only time will tell what the future holds for Everton and Dyche, but if things don’t improve soon, it’s hard to see how he’ll be able to keep hold of his position at Goodison Park upon the expiry of his contract at the end of the 2024/25 season.
In other Everton news, Alan Stubbs has shared his verdict on where the future of Sean Dyche lies.
