Sky reporter shares what Dyche has told him about 'Substantial' Everton funds reports

Vinnie O’Connor relayed live on Sky Sports that Sean Dyche knows nothing about a “substantial” transfer budget at Everton ahead of the January transfer window.

The Friedkin Group are set to transform the Blues into a financial powerhouse [Kieran Maguire] once the proposed takeover is complete, sparking rumours of a free-spending summer transfer window next year.

O’Connor quizzed Dyche on the rumours live on Sky Sports [3 October, 1:19pm] from Finch Farm with the Toffees boss downplaying the reports.

O’Connor said: “There’s been reports that once the takeover is completed, there will be substantial funds for Dyche in January. When I put that to Dyche earlier today, it seems that news is a bit of a surprise to him.”

Dyche was then heard saying: “It’s fair to say there weren’t any quotes in those articles and I like to stick to the facts. I haven’t heard anything from the owners, certainly not on transfer budgets.”

Everton keep Sean Dyche in the dark on transfer plans

Everton fans are well within their right to dream of a marquee summer transfer window in 2025 after this season’s exploits thus far, and Dyche’s words should not spark panic just yet.

The Friedkin Group are not yet in charge at Goodison Park, and while one eye will be on the summer transfer window at the end of the season there are still much more pressing matters to attend to – not least the January window.

Dyche recorded his first Premier League win of the season last time out against Crystal Palace and all eyes will be on the visit of Newcastle United this Saturday [5 October] as the Toffees look to enter the international break with consecutive victories.

The win pulled Everton out of the relegation zone but, with only one point separating the side from Crystal Palace in eighteenth place, the priority must be to put some daylight between themselves and the bottom three.

Dyche’s long-term future at the Blues is far from secure, with former Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri touted as a potential replacement [Inter Live], and could be why the boss is left in the dark regarding the plan for signings at the end of the season.

Regardless of the reason, the future looks bright at Everton and retaining their Premier League status this season must remain at the forefront of the plans.
