Sky Sports journalist predicts if Rangers will make free 'Panic signing'

Dan Bardell has backed the decision for Rangers not to complete any free agents urging them to wait until the January window opens.

Despite Philippe Clement hinting at Bosman signings in the past, no immediate plans to seal these deals outside of the window [Football Scotland].

There has been no scouting is completed for free agents and there won’t be until the winter window opens in over three months.

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell is on board with this decision and believes Clement must trust his current crop of players until he can add to it.

Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, Bardell said: “I think that usually if someone hasn’t got a club by now, there’s a reason for that.

“If clubs have got space in their squad or any weaknesses they can still add to them.

“I also think that it can look like a panic signing even if it is on a free transfer because there is still wages to pay and budgets to fit within.

“I have no problem with Rangers not exploring that market and going with what they’ve got.

“In January they can go and get in the players that they actually do want rather than panic buying players for free.“

There is good value to be had in the free agent market right now with the likes of Joel Matip, Serge Aurier and Alireza Jahanbakhsh amongst a whole host of available stars [Transfermarkt].

It seems clear that the club aren’t going in the direction of out-of-contract players but after Clement’s comments, this is somewhat surprising.

After the start to the campaign that the Gers have had, the addition of some players on cheapened deals could have proved to be beneficial.

With that being said, it now appears that the Belgian coach will have to deal with the squad he has currently which could be a blessing or a curse.
