Sky Sports reporter saw Ruben Amorim 'looking disgusted' at what £70m Manchester United star did vs Ipswich

Ruben Amorim enjoyed the perfect start to his career at Manchester United on Sunday.

Just 81 seconds into his role as manager of the Red Devils, the Portuguese tactician watched his side go 1-0 up thanks to a barnstorming run from Amad Diallo, who put the ball on a plate for Marcus Rashford to tap Manchester United ahead.

The 39-year-old is clearly not a man who likes to get ahead of himself, as he hardly broke a smile following the goal, instead turning back to the bench in emotionless fashion.

However – in the 18th minute – Ruben Amorim showed much more emotion towards Casemiro.

Why Ruben Amorim was disgusted with Casemiro

As spotted by Lewis Jones of Sky Sports – who was covering the Premier League clash live from Portman Road – Amorim was seen “looking disgusted” after the £70m man passed the ball out of play under little pressure.

Jones reported: “He is your typical modern day manager, is Amorim, in terms of his demeanour on the touchline. He feels every touch, every challenge and gives away plenty of emotion with his reactions. For example, looking disgusted as Casemiro sends a ball straight out of play.”

The Brazilian was named in the starting XI alongside Christian Eriksen in midfield, a partnership lacking plenty of athleticism, which Ipswich took full advantage of as the Tractor Boys responded well to going 1-0 down.

Acres of space regularly opened up for Ipswich in the middle of the park, while it was Casemiro who Omari Hutchinson turned with ease before curling a beautiful strike beyond Andre Onana to equalise.

There are several areas of the starting XI Amorim would presumably like to improve upon, such as Jonny Evans in defence – who was covering for Lisandro Martinez, in fairness – and arguably both of his central midfield selections.

Incidentally, there are reports Manchester United could sell Casemiro in January for £30m – with the Red Devils feeling they may not get a better chance to recoup as much cash for the man who turns 33 in February.

Furthermore, Manchester United have been linked with Chris Rigg – the Sunderland midfielder who is currently thriving in the Championship.

Therefore, it would not surprise us one bit to see Casemiro offloaded in 2025.
