'Sources close to Friedkin' - Journalist drops Everton takeover claim as Moshiri now 'Desperate'

Farhad Moshiri is becoming desperate as he hunts for a new buyer to complete the sale of Everton, according to Chris Bascombe.

The Telegraph journalist claimed on 17 September that a school of thought was that the people close to Dan Friedkin were issuing a reminder that a deal could still be made with the Friedkin Group.

There was understood to be disappointment at Goodison Park when they backed out of the deal.

Bascombe wrote: “Everton are offering no comment but it is clear they would welcome Friedkin’s return as there was deep disappointment at the club when he initially walked away.

“The AS Roma owner is understood to have been monitoring developments throughout the summer as Moshiri’s hunt for a buyer becomes increasingly desperate.

“Another school of thought is sources close to Friedkin are tentatively issuing a reminder that there is still a deal to be done with an owner with a proven track record of reviving a major European club.”

While Friedkin, with his successful stewardship of Roma, appears to be a promising candidate for the Toffees, his hesitation in finalising a deal has left supporters in a state of uncertainty.

Despite his proven track record in football management, Friedkin’s failure to make a definitive bid has not endeared him to the Goodison Park faithful, who are growing increasingly anxious for stability and direction.

The speculation around his interest, coupled with his initial withdrawal from negotiations, suggests a cautious approach which might be strategic but feels like indecision to the fanbase.

Until the American commits firmly, through tangible actions like a concrete offer or a clear statement of intent, Evertonians are likely to remain sceptical.

His potential as a saviour for the club is acknowledged, but without direct involvement, the warmth from fans will be reserved, waiting for proof of his commitment beyond mere interest.

Hopefully, things materialise in the coming weeks as there have been plenty of false dawns surrounding the club’s ownership.
