Sean Dyche will be aware he could have just one more game to save his managerial career at Everton, Dean Saunders has said.

Following the Toffees’ terrible 3-2 defeat to Aston Villa, Dyche’s side are now on a five-game losing streak in the Premier League, including the loss to Arsenal in the final game of last season.

The manner of their defeats to Bournemouth and Villa has seen the manager come under tremendous pressure, which is at an all-time high after the Toffees were knocked out of the EFL Cup by Southampton on Tuesday (17 September).

Speaking live on talkSPORT on Wednesday (18 September, 7:52am), Saunders said: “As a manager you used to move to the area and buy a house. Then it became, ‘Well, I’ll rent one’.

“Now they just stay in the hotel or park a caravan outside the training ground. You have six games. Sean will be aware of that. If you don’t win for six games, the vultures start circling.”

Sean Dyche must claim victory in Everton v Leicester City

Leicester City are one of the favourites to be relegated from the Premier League this season, so taking all three points from the King Power Stadium is a must for the Toffees.

Having opened the season with back-to-back defeats against Brighton and Tottenham, even unable to score, things were made much worse after two 3-2 comeback losses against the Cherries and Villa.

Dyche has worked wonders during his time at Goodison Park – nobody can dispute that. The Merseyside club finished 14 points above the dropzone last season despite being deducted a total of eight points.

However, the 53-year-old is quickly running out of time to turn things around, and a negative result against the Foxes on Saturday 21 September could seal his future.

Times are looking rather bleak at Goodison Park now but a win against a relegation-threatened side would alleviate some of the pressure currently on the manager’s shoulders.

In other Everton news, a Sky Sports pundit was astonished by an incident against Southampton, “Wow”.
