Creag Robertson decided to quit Rangers voluntarily and was not in danger of losing his job, according to Chris Jack.
The Rangers Review journalist reported on 10 October that he opted to leave as the club’s director of football operations to pursue other options.
An announcement is imminent and he’s set to officially vacate his positions in the coming weeks with there being four vacancies now.
Jack wrote: “Creag Robertson had resigned as director of football operations and will leave in the coming weeks to pursue fresh opportunities. It is understood that the decision is Robertson’s and sources insist it is not a case of the former head of business and education jumping before being pushed.”
Rangers need to address this backroom vacancy quickly
Robertson’s role at Ibrox is pivotal, overseeing the strategic direction and day-to-day operations of footballing matters, which includes player recruitment, contract negotiations and academy development, among other things.
His resignation thus creates a significant void at a critical juncture for Rangers.
This position isn’t just about filling a vacancy but ensuring continuity and stability in football operations, which directly impacts team performance and long-term club strategy.
The swift appointment of a successor is crucial as it will maintain the momentum in squad development, preserve club ethos in player acquisition and signal to the fanbase and anyone associated with the club that the priority remains on long-term success despite changes.
Delays could lead to a loss of direction, potentially affecting player morale and performance.
Gers need someone who can step in seamlessly, aligning with the club’s vision to challenge for domestic titles and succeed in European competitions, making this an urgent priority.
In other Rangers news, an update has emerged on the club signing a new winger in the January transfer window.
