Atletico Madrid are being helped to sign Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher by Kieran Tripper, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the Chelsea midfielder has been talking to Trippier about the La Liga club.
Football Insider revealed that an exit from Stamford Bridge is “as close as it’s ever been” as the Spanish outfit push to secure his signature.
The 24-year-old has been seeking advice from his England teammate and former Atletico Madrid defender, Trippier.
The Newcastle United star played for the La Liga club from 2019 to 2022 before returning to the Premier League and has been letting Gallagher know what to expect.
Football Insider has revealed that Gallagher’s preference is to stay at Chelsea, but he is out of contract at Stamford Bridge next summer.
Chelsea have reportedly told Gallagher that he will only be a squad player under Enzo Maresca’s new style, which could influence his decision.
