Southampton, Wolves, and Rangers to lock horns for Super Eagles star

Two English Premier League clubs, Southampton and Wolverhampton, as well as Scottish side Rangers FC, are reportedly eyeing a move for Bright Osayi-Samuel, Soccernet.ng reports.

Earlier reports reveal that Fenerbahce’s new manager, Jose Mourinho, is determined to keep the Super Eagles star in Turkey, potentially putting his English Premier League ambitions on hold.

However, reports circulating in Turkish media, backed up by Fanatik, indicate that Southampton, Wolves, and Rangers will battle it out this summer for the Nigerian.

While previous reports suggested that Mourinho is trying to prevent Osayi-Samuel’s departure, 90MIN Turkey has gathered from journalist Alan Nixon’s sources that Fenerbahçe is open to the possibility of Osayi-Samuel returning to England.

With the Nigerian’s contract set to expire next summer, he has been in protracted negotiations for a new agreement with Fenerbahce. This could be the perfect time to sell the player if a contract extension does not go through.

Having previously told Soccernet.ng of his desire to return to England, the main obstacle to his move back to the English league is his salary in Turkey, which will be a key discussion point in his potential exit from Fenerbahce.

“I think everyone knows that my ambition is to play English football, to play in the [English] Premier League. No disrespect to Fenerbahçe, they have done so much for me here [in Turkey]. But my ambition is to play in the Premier League. So when I feel that the time is right, I will take it,” he told Soccernet.ng.

The Super Eagles defender is enjoying a holiday with his loved ones while Fenerbahce deliberates on either extending his contract or arranging his transfer to another club.
