Amid heavy speculation over his future in recent weeks, Morata is now set to sign for AC Milan, according to multiple reports. Fabrizio Romano explains that Milan Sporting Director Zlatan Ibrahimovic will contact Atletico Madrid in the coming hours to inform them that they will activate Morata’s €13m release clause. The Rossoneri were keen to sign a forward after losing out on Joshua Zirkzee.

Morata has spoken frequently in recent weeks over the harsh treatment he feels he receives in Spain, and has been keen on a return to Italy. He scored 21 goals for Atletico last season, but a run of just three strikes since January left him out of the team by the closing stages of the season. It will require Atletico to move for another forward now though, with negotiations for Artem Dovbyk held up over his asking price.
