Spurs Sources: Big Jacob Ramsey update tonight

Tottenham remain very interested in signing Aston Villa attacking midfielder Jacob Ramsey, sources have told Football Insider.

Spurs had made an approach for the 23-year-old before the June 30th accounting deadline but Villa could still be open to selling the player, as revealed by Football Insider (July 1)

The north London club are keen to sign the Villa midfielder and are proposing the cash-plus-players exchange in a new attempt to lure him this summer.

Football Insider revealed (July 9) that the potential transfer being discussed would see Giovani Lo Celso head to Villa Park with Ramsey and one other unnamed Villa player going to Spurs.

Sources say that Villa currently value Ramsey at £50 million, a fee that Spurs are as of yet reluctant to pay.

Tottenham want home-grown Jacob Ramsey to add creativity

Ramsey came through the Aston Villa academy and has been ever present since making 121 appearances and scoring 13 goals since his return from Doncaster on loan.

Last season under Unai Emery, the 23-year-old was mostly a bench option, only starting 10 of his of his 21 appearances in all competitions.

Injuries didn’t help but Ramsey failed to play a significant role in Aston Villa’s campaign as they secured Champions League football for the first time since 1982-83.

Still, Villa are reluctant to sell their home-grown talent and no longer have the pressure of PSR hanging over them which puts the club in a good position.

Ramsey could be signed as a replacement for Oliver Skipp who Football Insider revealed (July 21) is free to leave Tottenham once they sign another home-grown player.

In other news, Tottenham set aside a “huge” sum of money to help fund transfer blitz.
