Stefan Borson: Rangers have 'enormous' issue after another key Ibrox exit

Rangers have an “enormous” issue to address after it’s been revealed another high-profile figure is set to leave Ibrox.

That is the view of finance expert Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider a stable organisation doesn’t have as many issues as the Scottish giants have faced in recent months.

Former Rangers director John Gilligan is temporarily filling in as chairman after John Bennett stood down on health grounds last month, while the club are also without a CEO following James Bisgrove’s departure earlier this year.

The Scottish Sun reported on 8 October Creag Robertson has now quit his role as director of football operations and is expected to leave Ibrox before the end of this year.

Rangers have endured a difficult start to the season as they currently sit five points behind Celtic and Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership table.

That has led to speculation around manager Philippe Clement’s position after the early progress he made has stalled in recent months.

But Borson suggested the issues appear to be around the executive team at Ibrox.

He told Football Insider: “They have got an enormous vacuum at the top of the club.

“It’s an enormous issue. It has to be addressed and it has to be addressed quickly.

“It also clearly points to very big issues around the executive team.

“A stable organisation just doesn’t have so many issues, so they will have to address it.

“They have got big, difficult problems at Rangers while Celtic are in the Champions League and they are not.

“That swing in revenue just makes it so difficult to compete because it’s just such a massive difference between the two clubs.

“The last thing they need on top of that is all sorts of flux in the boardroom.”
