England fans have slammed into Phil Foden after his appearance from the bench in the UEFA Nations League clash against Finland.
Lee Carsley’s side made amends for their midweek defeat as they picked up a comfortable 3-1 win away from home to get their Nations League form back on track.
Goals from Jack Grealish, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Declan Rice saw England go 3-0 up before a late header from Arttu Hoskonen got one back for the hosts.
However, fans turned their attention towards Foden following the goal after he failed to make an impact having come off the bench just minutes earlier.
The 24-year-old started the game on the bench and was brought on with ten minutes to go – but lost his man from the corner which saw the clean sheet thrown away and struggled to make anything happen in the final third.
Alexander-Arnold’s free-kick goal also meant he has now scored four in an England shirt, the same number as Foden in fewer appearances and playing as a defender.
Rice’s goal, meanwhile, saw the defensive midfielder move ahead of Foden in terms of goals scored for his country – raising questions about the City man’s effectiveness.
England fans tear into Phil Foden after his display v Finland
Amid growing pressure from fans on his position in the England side, Foden has now gone 16 appearances without picking up a goal or an assist for his country.
This has come just days after supporters tore into the attacking midfielder for his “horrendous” display in the defeat against Greece.
Now, England supporters have taken to social media once more to express their frustration at Foden’s performances, labelling him “a curse” and insisting he is “robbing a living”.
In other news, “enormous” offers are expected for Kevin De Bruyne and Mohamed Salah.
