Dan Plumley has insisted that it is getting cheaper for Everton to sack Sean Dyche with his contract expiring at the end of the season.
Dyche is on thin ice at Goodison Park and was said to be at risk of dismissal before the 0-0 draw against West Ham at the London Stadium on 9 November [talkSPORT].
Plumley, a football finance expert, admitted that any compensation would be limited around the timeframe of his contract, albeit still a “tricky” decision.
“It’s certainly cheaper,” he exclusively told Goodison News.
“I’m not sure if it’s easier as that is tricky because that brings in the personal optics to it, the timing of it and where the club are in the Premier League.
“Certainly, from a financial point of view, all things considered, you would expect that to be a cheaper decision if there are any compensation clauses in there, that would be limited around the timeframe of the contract.
“Again, something I’ve said a lot is, once this takeover assuming it goes through okay and once that new ownership group has new ideas of how they want to take the club forward, that often sometimes means a change in manager as well.
Everton to sack Sean Dyche?
“I guess it’s a tricky situation at the minute, and I think a lot will depend on league position in all of this because I’ve said time and time again, that Everton’s financial problems have been there for all to see, but they would be far worse if they were a Championship club as well in the short term.
“Premier League survival is a must, for sure, and that will dictate the managerial stuff as well.
“From a financial perspective, if you’re looking at contracts and when that is up for the manager, the longer we go, the cheaper that decision becomes to sack him if they choose to go down that road.”
Everton are currently 16th in the Premier League, three points ahead of the relegation zone with Ruud van Nistelrooy one of many managers linked with the hotseat [TEAMtalk].
Time will tell what happens, with a crucial period ahead for Dyche and Everton.
