Neil Moxley has slated Everton chiefs for being “strangely invisible” after their 4-0 Tottenham defeat.
Writing in the Sunday People [Page 58, 1 September] Moxley tore into The Toffees’ chiefs and stated that the club are on a “rotten path to Nowhereville” following their recent poor performances.
The journalist also detailed that he knows how “powerless and upset” Evertonians feel due to his club [Birmingham City] going through a similar situation.
“It’s a shame for both parties the true culprits weren’t on show last week,” Moxley wrote.
“What am I talking about? The bile that spewed from Evertonians as a group of hapless Toffees players boarded their train back to Merseyside last week following a four-goal spanking at Spurs.
“Boss Sean Dyche likened them to drivers suffering road rage. What took place wasn’t a reflection of one limp effort in north London.
“It was more a reaction to years and years of poor management, the club circling the plughole in the Premier League and being consistently ground down by bad results and dreadful recruitment.
“Those who wasted millions and set the club ok this rotten path to Nowhereville? Strangely invisible.
“What happened last weekend was a poor look – but given context, it becomes more understandable. It’s happened to my club, Birmingham City – so I know how powerless and upset Evertonians feel.”
Everton need to re-find their form before it’s too late
As mentioned by Moxley, Everton have been battling for Premier League survival for far too long now.
Despite constant investment and a solid team overall, it feels as if the Toffees haven’t managed to find their form for some time.
Players such as Dominic Calvert-Lewin haven’t performed to the standards expected of them for the last few seasons and now the cracks are starting to show.
Iliman Nidaye and former Aston Villa ace Tim Iroegbunam are two of the Toffees’ new arrivals who have seemed to have a solid impact on the squad.
Despite their 3-2 collapse against Bournemouth on 31 August, Iroegbunam and newbie Ndiaye were the best players within Everton’s squad and despite their best efforts, it just wasn’t meant to be.
Dyche’s men find themselves at rock bottom of the Premier League table without a point to their name, if things don’t change soon, the club could be playing their first season at the Bramley Moore Docks stadium in England’s second tier.
In other Everton news, Alan Myers has mooted that the Toffees board should be “concerned” after their 3-2 loss v Bournemouth.
