'Oh my word' - O'Hara lets rip at 'absolute mess' he saw in Everton defeat yesterday

Jamie O’Hara has dubbed Everton as an “absolute mess” following their 3-2 loss against Bournemouth on 31 August.

O’Hara tore into the Toffees as the Merseyside outfit somehow managed to throw away a 2-0 lead.

To make matters worse, up until the 87th minute of the clash, Sean Dyche’s men still had their ‘comfortable’ two-goal cushion and looked to be on their way to gaining their first three Premier League points of the season.

Speaking live on talkSPORT (31 August) after the clash, O’Hara tore into Everton following their monumental collapse.

“Oh my word, what are they [Everton] doing, an absolute mess, 2-0 up in the 87th minute, O’Hara said.

Everton could face Premier League relegation if their form doesn’t pick up

Over the last few seasons, Everton and a Premier League relegation battle have been hand-in-hand.

The club have consistently struggled in England’s top-flight over the last few years and have retained their Premier League status by the skin of their teeth on more than one occasion.

Last season was arguably one of the toughest of the Toffees’ history. The Merseyside outfit was the first Premier League side to have points deducted from their total due to a breach in the league’s Profit and Sustainability rules.

This happened not once but twice and resulted in eight points being docked off of Everton’s final number and, while this wasn’t the demise of the club, it put them in a precarious situation for the 2024/25 summer transfer window.

The likes of Orel Mangala and Chelsea ace Armando Broja [Sunday Mirror, 1 September, page 70] were both added to the club’s ranks on deadline day but there’s no doubt that Dyche would have liked to have added more talent to his ranks.

Although it’s still early days in the campaign and Everton doesn’t have all their first-team players available, their form needs to be turned around sooner rather than later.

In other Everton news, a talkSPORT commentator was left dumbstruck live on air during the defeat to Bournemouth at Goodison.
