Sean Dyche has been slammed by Graeme Bailey for a “criminal” tactical decision as Everton were shockingly beaten by AFC Bournemouth.
The Toffees led heading into injury time at Goodison Park but inexplicably passed up a two-goal lead to be beaten 3-2 by the Cherries.
Bailey has criticised Dyche for his decision to leave Jesper Lindstrom as an unused substitute in the defeat.
Speaking to Everton News [1 September], journalist Bailey said: “Personally, he has now gone three league games without starting Lindstrom.
“I believe [he] is the most dynamic and talented player in this squad, it is criminal that he is sat on the bench at Goodison, he is just too good for that.”
Everton wasting Jesper Lindstrom?
Everton signed Lindstrom from Napoli in late July on a season-long loan, with an option to make the deal permanent.
He had only made two Serie A starts for the club last season, but had succeeded previously with Eintracht Frankfurt as the Bundesliga side won the Europa League in 2022.
Dyche appears to be sticking with his tried and tested charges, with Dwight McNeil and Jack Harrison being utilised out wide either side of Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
However, with the Toffees now having to wait until after the international break for their first Premier League point, it is now worth giving Lindstrom a run in the side – something, after all, has to give.
The 24-year-old did start in the Carabao Cup victory over Doncaster, putting in a decent shift as he was withdrawn midway through the second half.
In other Everton news, a decision will be made in the near future on Armando Broja.
