'Fans have had enough' - Kris Boyd blasts Rangers behind-the-scenes developments

Kris Boyd has slammed Rangers for their defeat to Dynamo Kyiv and blamed Hampden Park for the Champions League exit.

As quoted in the Scottish Daily Mail [15 August, pg 79], Boyd belated the club’s hierarchy and believes the Gers would have stood a chance in the fixture if the match were played at the Ibrox.

A delay in the building work has led to Rangers playing out their home matches at Hampden Park until the construction is complete.

Boyd said on the Ibrox situation: “This whole situation with the stadium has come back to cost Rangers again. Champions League nights at Ibrox, teams crumble. There wasn’t much of an atmosphere at Hampden.

“There are so many problems at the football club, but the biggest one for me is Ibrox.

“The fans have had enough someone needs to get a grip of this football club.”

Rangers miss out on crucial opportunity with Champions League exit

A victory against Dynamo Kyiv and potential qualification to the Champions League proper this season was of the utmost importance to Rangers and, the defeat is a hammer blow to their hopes this campaign.

The Gers have missed out on a potential £40m jackpot, that could have provided Philippe Clement with much-needed funds to continue to rebuild his side and challenge Celtic for the Scottish Premiership title this season.

Rangers have thus far had to rely on player sales to fund their transfer activity this summer with Connor Goldson, John Lundstram, Kemar Roofe and Borna Barisic moved on for their high salary to free up the wage bill.

The gap between Rangers and Celtic is growing further apart by the year [talkSPORT] and, the club cannot afford to allow their SPFL rivals to continue another year of dominance in Scotland but have missed out on a golden opportunity to help bridge the gap with their Champions League elimination.

Clement will recognise the absence of the Ibrox and the impact it is having on his side, the stadium has been a fortress for the Light Blues and will be instrumental for their success in the future.

Rangers supporters are anxious and rightfully so, but Clement has proven this summer that he can operate under the restrictions at the club so far this summer and, the fans must put their faith in the manager to help guide the team in the right direction.
