Farhad Moshiri will relinquish control of Everton before the Chelsea game on 22 December, The Esk says.
Paul Quinn, who goes by The Esk, revealed that the 0-0 draw against Arsenal on Saturday [14 December] was the British Iranian businessman’s last as the owner of the Toffees.
The Friedkin Group (TFG) have received approval from the Premier League to go through with their acquisition of the Blues [Sky Sports, 13 December].
Speaking on the Talking the Blues podcast [16 December], George Costigan asked whether Moshiri would be in charge any longer, and The Esk said: “Yeah, before the Chelsea match.
“That was, and I’ll talk about Moshiri in a few minutes, but that was Moshiri’s last game as owner of Everton Football Club.”
Costigan responded: “What a sweet say. Could you just say that again, please?”
The Esk repeated: “That was Moshiri’s last game as owner of Everton’s Football Club.”
Farhad Moshiri era full of turmoil for Everton
Dan Friedkin will hopefully usher in a new era at the Toffees after Moshiri departs.
Under the 69-year-old, the Blues have struggled to be competitive, battling relegation over the years.
Recruitment in recent transfer windows has also been disappointing, with Kevin Thelwell failing to address key issues in the squad.
It wouldn’t be surprising if TFG evaluated the position of the director of football at Everton once they are officially unveiled at the Merseyside outfit.
Sean Dyche isn’t a popular figure among the Goodison faithful, but the English manager has surely bought himself more time in the Toffees’ dugout after the draw at the Emirates.
Moshiri will go down as an infamous figure at the Blues, and the fans seemingly can’t wait to see the back of him.
While TFG’s arrival is promising, it remains to be seen whether the Americans will live up to the billing, with fans expecting big things ahead of the move to Bramley-Moore Dock.
In other Everton news, Victor Lindelof is ready to make a move in January amid interest from the Merseyside outfit.
