The Friedkin Group are hopeful they can bring in some new players for Everton in the January transfer window, according to TEAMtalk.
The online outlet reported via their website (16 December) that while additions are wanted, their position regarding the Premier League’s PSR rules isn’t “strong” despite the fact they have earned £70million from academy player sales (iNews, 21 November).
The report adds that this means they’ll have to be “careful” with their spending in January, even though reinforcement is seemingly a top priority.
The Friedkin Group need to bring in as many players as possible to Everton
Since the summer transfer window closed, fans have been asking the Toffees to add more talent to their ranks so that they can put up a decent fight in the league.
They may not be in the relegation spots at the moment but the fact they only have a three-point cushion between themselves and 18th-placed Ipswich is no doubt a cause for concern.
Some of their summer arrivals, such as Iliman Ndiaye and Tim Iroegbunam (before he got injured), hit the ground running almost straight away. Others such as Jake O’Brien, though, have hardly been afforded a chance to prove their worth.
The upcoming January transfer window could be a crucial point of the season for the Toffees, with their moves likely to be key to whether or not they’ll be in a relegation dogfight by the end of the term.
However, as the takeover is now just days away from completion, with just the approval from the Premier League’s Independent Oversight Panel to go (Ben Jacobs, 13 December), things are finally starting to look up for the Merseyside outfit.
In other Everton news, a Toffees ace could become key to the club’s Premier League survival this season after what Sean Dyche said.
