Football is not typically played on Christmas Day as players are afforded a break with their families – after a training session in the morning – although there are actually two matches taking place for those who simply cannot go without the beloved sport until Boxing Day.
Football fans can enjoy Yemen vs Saudi Arabia and Bahrain vs Iraq on ESPN
If you happen to have access to ESPN on Christmas Day, there are actually two matches to cast your eyes on.
Yemen take on Saudi Arabia in the Group Stage of the Arabian Gulf Cup at 14:25 GMT – which is being shown live on ESPN + 1 – before Bahrain and Iraq meet each other in the same competition at 17:30 GMT on ESPN + 5.
Of course, these matches are a bit obscure, but for those who are longing to watch some live football on Christmas Day and have access to ESPN, your wishes have been granted.
The first football game occurring on Boxing Day and the four sides not involved
Almost every Premier League side is in action on Boxing Day.
Manchester City – who want Martin Zubimendi in January – and Everton kick us off with a clash at the Etihad Stadium from 12:30 GMT on Amazon Prime, although fans of four Premier League clubs will have to wait a day more until their beloved sides play.
Brighton vs Brentford takes place on Friday 27th December at 19:30 GMT – before Arsenal, who are without Bukayo Saka, welcome Ipswich to the Emirates Stadium at 20:15 GMT.
There will then be another round of Premier League fixtures beginning from Sunday 29th December – so we all have plenty to feast on aside from Christmas Dinner throughout this festive period.
