'They need an upgrade': Gabriel Agbonlahor urges Spurs to replace £140k-a-week player who 'slows' things down

Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou has been putting his players through their paces in pre-season ahead of the new Premier League campaign.
Spurs went into the Bayern Munich friendly in Seoul on the back of four consecutive wins in pre-season, although they subsequently fell to a 2-1 defeat.
Tottenham are also likely to be busy in the transfer window, with under four weeks until deadline day and just over a fortnight until the season begins.
The Spurs boss has a lot to think about with regards to who he still needs to bring in to strengthen his squad, not to mention who he may need to offload.
Now, talkSPORT pundit Gabriel Agbonlahor has urged Tottenham to bring in an upgrade for a £140,000-a-week (Salarysport) player he thinks hasn’t been up to scratch.

Gabriel Agbonlahor wants Tottenham to bring in Dejan Kulusevski upgrade
The player in question is Dejan Kulusevski, who endured a mixed season for Tottenham last term.
Kulusevski was an ever-present for Spurs, making 36 Premier League appearances plus three in the domestic cups.
On his day, the 24-year-old is impressive, but there were several games last term in which he pretty much went missing or gave possession away too easily.
“Tottenham really need to upgrade Kulusevski,” Agbonlahor told talkSPORT (2/8/2024, 4:14pm).
“I watched him last season. He got substituted 10 times. He lacks pace.
“The amount of times I watched Spurs trying to counterattack on that right-hand side, he slows it down, everyone gets back, and it ruins the counterattack.
“They need an upgrade on Kulusevski.”
Postecoglou unlikely to offload Kulusevski
Although Kulusevski wasn’t at his very best last season, he still offers a lot to Tottenham in terms of quality and versatility.
Spurs also have more pressing issues in terms of transfer targets. A new centre-forward is a must for the Lilywhites, while defensive reinforcements wouldn’t go amiss.
With that in mind, Kulusevski is likely to stay. Hopefully he’ll get back to his best and goes on to answer his critics in 2024/25.
