Alan Myers believes Dan Friedkin’s takeover at Everton is on time but admitted that “things will change” before a deal is completed.
The takeover is expected to be done before the end of the year [Alan Myers], though fans are continuing to worry about the situation due to the silence behind the scenes.
Evertonians have already been stung by one failed takeover attempt before, with 777 Partners falling away from the situation after months of promises, but Friedkin’s purchase is said to be on time.
With a fan referencing Farhad Moshiri’s timeline for buying the Toffees, Myers wrote via X [2 November]: “It was probably more than 10 days in reality, plus he was already approved as an owner due to his shares in Arsenal at the time.
“I can only give an estimate on times and things will change during the process. They’re never a set time but the main thing is it’s going as planned.”
Everton takeover in full swing as Alan Myers assures worried fans
Friedkin’s takeover comes as a very exciting prospect for the Toffees, given how disappointing and tough times have been on Merseyside in recent seasons.
However, fans have every right to be sceptical until a deal is completed with Moshiri and the club has new owners steering the ship and, hopefully, away from relegation.
Sean Dyche certainly looks to be doing his absolute best to turn things around on the pitch, so it is now down to everyone behind the scenes to solve the off-pitch issues.
The Toffees have risen five points above the relegation zone, having claimed nine points from their last five Premier League fixtures, a far cry from their opening set of results.
Dyche and his team were under considerable pressure after the first four league games, suffering heavy defeats to Brighton and Tottenham before comeback defeats to Bournemouth and Aston Villa.
Now, with wins over Crystal Palace and Ipswich Town, and well-earned draws against Leicester City, Newcastle United and Fulham, things look to be turning in the right direction.
In other Everton news, the Toffees surely hold an advantage over Manchester United for a new signing who “defies his age”.
