Todd Cantwell could now exit Rangers permanently before 11pm Friday as approach made - Chris Jack

Blackburn have made an approach to sign Todd Cantwell from Rangers, according to Chris Jack.

Writing on the Rangers Review website on Tuesday (27 August), Jack reported that Cantwell, 26, could leave Ibrox either on a season-long loan or on a permanent basis ahead of the transfer window shutting at 11pm on Friday (30 August).

It is understood that Blackburn have “opened initial discussions” about a deal for the former Norwich midfielder, who’s handed in a transfer request in order to force a move away from Govan.

Rangers fans all over the UK will be hoping that Cantwell leaves Ibrox for good because the last thing they want is for him to go out on loan and for whatever reason, he ends up back in the squad next season.

It’s best for the club to cash in now and get him off their books forever because his behaviour in Glasgow has been nothing short of disgraceful.

There have been some shocking players at Ibrox in the last decade or so but not many of those woeful players have disrespected the club the way Cantwell has.

You can guarantee that fans will take a Bongani Zungu over a Todd Cantwell.

He simply cannot hack it in Scottish football after thinking that he was probably going to come here and be the best thing that’s happened to this league since Paul Gascoigne.

Instead, you can toss him in the same pile as Joey Barton.
