Tom English agreed with Willie Collum’s sentiment that the Rangers versus Celtic controversy would not still be talked about if other teams were involved.
Six days have passed since Vaclav Cerny was not awarded a penalty after being brought down on the line of the penalty box, with the Hoops eventually going on to lift the Scottish League Cup on penalties.
The Scottish FA have since apologised for the incident, and so too has Collum, but fans are still aggrieved by the wrong decision that may have changed the course of the final at Hampden Park almost a week ago.
Speaking via BBC Sportsound [21 December, 2:24pm], English said: “Here we are, we’re now into day seven of this just because it’s Rangers and Celtic.
“If this was a decision given for Rangers and Celtic against Aberdeen or Dundee United, we wouldn’t… Collum called us out on this, the media out on this.
“This is repeating itself now, and what I find interesting, the Willie Collum VAR review is a great addition, almost brutally honest in his assessments.”

Supporters at Ibrox have every right to be upset with the controversial moment, but those who are calling for the fixture to be replayed are living in a dream world.
Human error will forever be a part of football, however much of it is computerised, and as long as VAR is used by actual people, there are destined to be wrong decisions made by officials.
Of course, there is no excuse for the incident in question, with Cerny clearly fouled inside the box, but with Philippe Clement’s side moving on and since beating Dundee, the fans must do too.
The 27-year-old winger stole the spotlight on Saturday 21 December once again, scoring the only goal in a 1-0 win over Dundee at Ibrox, a much-needed result after what happened at Hampden Park.
The Gers’ opinion should not be dismissed or ignored, but after nearly a whole week of discussions, it is time for everyone to move on.
In other Rangers news, Patrick Stewart already risks a fan fallout as behind-the-scenes discussions are mooted with Manchester United.
