Rangers continued their fine Scottish Premiership form with a win over Dundee, but Hamza Igamane has surely hurt his chances going forward.
The Gers took on the Dark Blues at Ibrox on Saturday [21 December], and a solitary Vaclav Cerny goal was enough to seal the victory for Philippe Clement’s team.
With the game level going into the break after a few shots hit the crossbar, the Light Blues came out strong, with Danilo setting the Czech forward on a counter in the 46th minute,
The Brazilian striker started up front for the Bears, with Igamane starting on the left but drifting inside every time the Glaswegian outfit attacked.
While the Moroccan has been one of the Gers’ best players in recent weeks, the 22-year-old failed to build on those displays against Tony Docherty’s team.
Philippe Clement could drop Hamza Igamane for next Rangers game
Igamane had multiple chances in the fixture, none better than the one from around three yards out, which he somehow couldn’t convert.
Against Dundee, the forward played 84 minutes before being substituted for Cyriel Dessers, having 47 touches in the match and 73 per cent passing accuracy, as per FotMob.
The Moroccan had an xG of 1.06 but failed to find the back of the net for Rangers, missing two big chances at Ibrox.
In the final third, the 22-year-old was wasteful, with just 33 per cent of his shots finding the target, and he was dispossessed four times.
Igamane wasn’t strong enough, either, losing 11 of his 15 duels and committing one foul.
Danilo looks ready to start after returning from injury, and it wouldn’t be surprising if Clement changed the system for the St Mirren game on 26 December and dropped the Moroccan striker in favour of Connor Barron in the starting lineup.
In other Rangers news, Michael Stewart has revealed what he heard about Dessers after the Celtic controversy.
