Leeds United should have more cash to spend before the 30 August transfer deadline after recording some big-money sales throughout the summer.
That is the view of finance expert Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider the Championship club have made a sizeable profit following their transfer dealings.
Leeds were believed to be close to their allowable losses limit for 2023-24 before they sold Archie Gray to Tottenham for £30million.
Daniel Farke’s side have also sold Crysencio Summerville to West Ham and Georginio Rutter to Brighton, with those deals raking in a further £65million.
But they have only spent around £20million of that money so far after signing Joe Rodon, Largie Ramazani, Jayden Bogle and Alex Cairns, while Joe Rothwell has joined on loan.
Leeds United likely to make new signings after big sales
Although Borson believes Leeds do need to remain cautious following their previous heavy spending, he expects them to have some money available to bring in more players before the deadline.
He told Football Insider: “If their wage bill continues to be quite high from the time they were in the Premier League, then they are going to be very limited on spending.
“But that is offset by some pretty chunky player-transfer profits.
“I expect them to be cautious, but I also expect them to have some flexibility to be able to invest.
“They have sold on a headline basis a lot of footballers and we know that Archie Gray in particular was very profitable because he was a youth player.”
