'Tottenham are doing fantastic things' - Wenham wowed by behind-the-scenes figure

John Wenham has praised Tottenham academy director Simon Davies after Will Lankshear signed a new contract with the club.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose is delighted to see so many young players putting pen to paper on long-term deals in North London.

As per the club’s official website (12 July), Lankshear became the most recent player to sign a new contract with Tottenham, committing himself to the club until 2029.

And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – has attributed a lot of this progress to Davies.

“A lot of our young players have committed their long-term futures to the club,” Wenham said.

“The likes of George Abbott and Tyrese Hall recently signed deals, and now Lankshear has put pen to paper on a deal until 2029.

“Tottenham are doing fantastic things, getting these players to sign up long-term, and I believe Davies has played a big role in that behind the scenes.

“Therefore, I am really pleased with the work he is doing.”

Spurs’ academy has shone over the past year.

The Under-21s clinched the Premier League 2 title last season, and plenty of young talents are beginning to emerge in North London.

As a result, a lot of credit must be given to the man in charge of it all, Davies.

As reported by Football London (10 July), the 44-year-old has turned down an assistant coaching role with Wales to remain with Spurs.

This will have therefore delighted many behind the scenes, and now it is up to Postecoglou to provide opportunities to some of those young players who Davies is helping to develop.
