Tottenham blow Real Madrid out of the water as transfer news emerges

Real Madrid deem signing Micky van de Ven from Tottenham as too expensive, according to Relevo.

The Spanish outlet reported via their website on 28 December that the La Liga giants are on the lookout for new centre-backs to bolster their backline and are delighted by the Netherlands international’s abilities.

However, as reported by Tottenham News in June, it would take a “lot of money” to convince Spurs to sell him and that is too expensive for the Spanish champions as things stand.

Daniel Levy to keep Micky van de Ven at Tottenham amid Real Madrid interest

A recruitment source with close links to Spurs told Tottenham News earlier this year that Barcelona, PSG and Juventus are keeping tabs on Van de Ven, apart from Madrid.

However, the North London outfit are determined to retain the former Wolfsburg ace’s services.

He joined Tottenham from the German club for £43million in the summer of 2023 [Sky Sports, 8 August 2023] and has since established himself as one of the most important players in Ange Postecoglou’s team.

With Van de Ven contracted to Spurs until 2029, the Premier League club are positive about resisting interest from other clubs for the time being.

It remains to be seen if the situation will change in the summer or if Real Madrid will shell out the sum needed to persuade Daniel Levy to sell.

The Dutchman is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury. There is no doubt that Postecoglou will be hopeful of having him back in action soon.
