Tottenham fans give their verdict on Fraser Forster’s display against Roma and the message is clear

Tottenham Hotspur suffered late heartbreak on Thursday night in the Europa League with AS Roma equalising at the death.

Ange Postecoglou was left furious with Brennan Johnson with Tottenham failing to put the game to bed on the night.

Goals from Johnson and Heung-min Son were not enough to earn Postecoglou’s side maximum points in what proved a tricky evening in N17.

The Lilywhites came into the game with a number of injury issues already plaguing the club with Mikey Moore and Cristian Romero sidelined.

But the biggest issue of all was sustained on the weekend with goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario undergoing ankle surgery this week.

And Tottenham fans were fairly unanimous in their thoughts on the performance of his replacement, Fraser Forster.

Tottenham fans criticise Fraser Forster’s display vs Roma

Postecoglou has admitted Tottenham won’t sign a new goalkeeper in the January transfer window as they pleased with their options.

However, it does not seem as if the Tottenham fans were pleased with Forster’s display with @mike_cavs_uk saying: ‘Spurs need to sort out the goalkeeper situation ASAP that’s a really poor goal for Forster to concede.’

Meanwhile, @crd88x said: ‘Forster can’t move his feet.’ Whilst @snwdn_spurs added: ‘I’m all for giving Forster a chance but he makes me nervous.’

Clearly, Tottenham fans were not pleased with Forster’s role in the Roma equaliser with @shemag12 saying: ‘Awful goalkeeping, stagnant.’ And @lefadontplay added: ‘I miss Vicario, Forster dives in slow motion.’

But one fan in @garyhorwood2 demanded Postecoglou gave one of the youngsters an opportunity, saying: ‘Forster isn’t good enough just go with a youngster!’

Fraser Forster’s performance vs Roma in numbers

On Wednesday, Luca Gunter trained with Tottenham’s first team among the likes of Forster, Brandon Austin and Alfie Whiteman.

But it is the veteran shot-stopper which Postecoglou is going with between the sticks with Vicario set to be sidelined for months.

Forster made a stunning save in the dying minutes of the game, which looked to have secured the points for Tottenham. However, a late goal from Mats Hummels sealed a draw for Roma.

Timo Werner has hailed Forster’s character behind the scenes but it seems as if he still needs to win over the fans.
